An Operating System is the low-level software which manages a computer. It controls how the hardware behaves, the communication with peripheral devices such as a monitor, a printer or a keyboard, the allocation of memory between apps, and the prioritization of apps when several run simultaneously. Each program that's installed on a desktop or a laptop functions by sending requests to the OS for various services using an application program interface (API). The interaction with the OS can be achieved using a Graphical User Interface (GUI) or a command line. In the hosting field, the Operating System is what commands a server along with any software installed on it, which includes not only website scripts, but, in addition any other application such as a VOIP or a game server. In case there're virtual machines created, they work with a guest OS that is run on the server host OS.
Multiple OS in VPS Web Hosting
Our virtual private server plans include three Linux releases that you could select from for the Operating System of your new web server - Debian, Ubuntu and CentOS. Aside from being totally free, the OSs are extremely stable and secure and the main reason to offer all three of them is to ensure that you can run any kind of application that you would like, since different pieces of software could have different requirements when it comes to the environment they can be used on. Each one of the three OSs is supported by a large community of developers who have made thousands of software packages which you can set up and use on your VPS. Depending on the Operating System which you choose, you will also be able to select between three different Control Panels to control your hosting content. Also, should you decide that you need a different OS, we could always reinstall the server with it. As an additional upgrade, we also offer weekly updates of the Operating System for maximum stability and security.
Multiple OS in Dedicated Servers Hosting
We offer three Operating Systems with our dedicated server packages - CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian. They're all different Linux distributions and we offer them not only because they are cost-free and they will not increase the cost of your new web hosting server, but also because they are exceptionally stable and secure. Each of them is backed up by a vast community of developers, so you'll be able to choose from countless software packages that you can install on your server if the application that you want to work with has certain requirements. The Operating System will also determine what internet hosting Control Panel you can use because the Control Panels that we offer are compatible with specific OSs only and since we want to give you as much versatility as possible, we offer a couple of OSs and multiple Control Panels. If you get a server with a given Operating System, we could change it upon request in case it turns out that you will need another one. We will also keep the OS updated weekly as part of our additional Managed Services upgrade.
